Georgian Theatre Royal
Built in 1788 under the supervision of the actor-manager Samuel Butler the Georgian Theatre in Richmond is believed to be the most complete example of an eighteenth century currently surviving in Britain today.
The theatre was awarded Royal patronage following a visit by the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall on 2006, the Royal couple having expressed their appreciation of this unique theatrical venue in a statement issued from Clarence House.
