Gill Heads Mine
Gill Heads is a disused lead and flourspar mine at the head of a small valley which runs parallel to Troller's Gill at the northern end of Trollerdale.
The mines were worked until relatively recently, and sources indicate that they were only finally closed in the early 1980s, concluding a long history of mining in the Yorkshire Dales. Today the mines lie derelict, and being obviously dangerous should not be entered by members of the public.
