Halton Gill
Halton Gill is a small village near the head of Littondale.
The village was used as a filming location for the 2012 film version of the ghost story "The Woman in Black" doubling as the ficticious village of Crythin Gifford in the horrific tale.
Besides scenes filmed in the the village itself several shots show the approach over the moors from the single track road running from the south alongside Penyghent Gill. There are good views here of Halton Gill as well as much of upper Littondale (pictured above).
Halton Gill is more or less at the end of the dale, with a single track road continuing to the terminus for drivers at Foxup.
