Weathercote Cave
Once well known as a show cave, Weathercote Cave is actually a pothole in the grounds of Weathercote House at Chapel le Dale near Ingleton.
The entrance is a spectacular chasm in to which a waterfall descends, and the scene was painted by Turner sometime around 1818.
Above the waterfall is a large boulder wedged across the chasm, which is known as "Mohammed's Coffin".
In days gone by an entrance fee was charged to visitors, though Weathercote Cave is on private land and is now closed to the public.
