Yorkshire "Gears Up" for the Tour de France

Final preparations are now underway for the Grand Départ of the Tour de France, which takes place in Yorkshire on the weekend of the 5th and the 6th July 2014.
On Saturday 5th July 2014 the cyclists race from Leeds to Harrogate through the Yorkshire Dales region, with highlights of this particular section including the climb over Kidstones and the spectacular Buttertubs Pass (pictured above left).
On Sunday 6th July 2014 the race begins in York and again passes through part of the Yorkshire Dales region as well as Bronte Country and the northern reaches of the Peak District and South Yorkshire to end the second day in Sheffield.
Staff from the Coniston Hotel will also be manning a special "pop-up" pitstop cafe in Kettlewell - one of the villages passed through by the tour.
There will also be several official spectator hubs along the route, where the progress of the peloton can be watched live on big screen arenas.
