The Valley of Desolation

Named because of a storm which laid waste back in 1826, the so called "Valley of Desolation" is actually a pleasant wooded valley which feeds in to Lower Wharfedale just east of Bolton Abbey.
A footpath leads along the valley, passing near the waterfalls of Posforth Gill before ascending across open moorland eventually leading to the summit of Simon's Seat.
