In the summertime the market town of Leyburn and other towns and villages in Wensleydale host a popular 1940s themed weekend.

Much of the event takes place around the Wensleydale Railway, with special trains travelling along the line.

Back in Leyburn there are gatherings of 1940s military and civilian vehicles (including tanks, artillery, trucks and vintage cars), as well as British soldiers, American G.I.s and a whole host of civilian characters - including the odd "spiv" trying to sell their dodgy wares..
