Dentdale
The valley of Dentdale takes its name from the village of Dent. Places in the dale include Dent Head, Dent itself, and Gawthrop.
The Dent Fault runs along the bottom of valley, marking a geological boundary between the carbonferous limestone of Deepdale and the Craven dales to the south and the older Silurian rocks of the Howgill Fells to the north.
The world famous Settle Carlisle Railway cuts across the top of the dale at Dent Head.
