The Lune Valley

The River Lune runs along the Lune Valley on the north western edge of the "Yorkshire" dales area, from near Sedbergh and the Howgill Fells to Kirkby Lonsdale and then on along the north eastern edge of Bowland towards Lancaster where it runs in to the Lune Estuary to the south of Morecambe Bay.

Villages in the Lune Valley include Casterton and Barbon, while tributary valleys include Barbondale and Dentdale.

[N.B. The River Lune of the Lune Valley should not be confused with the dales area's other River Lune which runs along Lunedale (a tributary valley of Teesdale).]
